Club Claims

The Quartzsite Metal Detecting Club owns and maintains approximately 360 acres of mining claims exclusively for member use. They are located in 4 different areas just west of Quartzsite and the majority of them are accessible by most vehicles. Below you will find general info on the areas of the claims. The Members Only section includes more information such as downloadable maps and directions but is only accessible by members and requires a password.

All claims are marked with the corner posts made of land scaping timbers with the tops painted with bright orange paint. Each corner post also contains the Claim Name, BML AMC claim number, GPS coordinates, as well as which directional corner the post is, (i.e. NW, SE ect.). The borders between the corner posts are marked with 1” and 2” white PVC pipes most of which are painted orange on top. You should be able to see the row of border posts as you look down the line toward the other corner post. All borders run North & South and East & West. If you are out prospecting and notice one of the posts down, please take the time and stand it back up with rock around the base.

Middle Camp Mountain (Middle Camp, 2, & 3, Golf 2, Golf 3)

UPDATED 12/05/2021

The Quartzsite Metal Detecting Club presently has 8 claims that are located in 3 separate spots adjacent to Middle Camp Mountain for a total of 160 acres. We do a push on this group of claims every season which turns up some new ground and new GOLD NUGGETS! These claims are a favorite for Metal Detecting but Drywashing can be productive here too. Gold can be found in the washes, benches and sometimes even in the quartz float that has worked its way down from one of many small lode sources.

Jumping Jack North & South

We have a total of roughly 200 Acres in this grouping of claims and there is a long history of prospecting in this area and can be great for both Metal Detecting & Drywashing. The Southern grouping of claims has a paved road going along the entire Southern Boundary making it the easiest access claims that the QMDC owns at this time.

The Northern grouping of Jumping Jack is harder to get to but has also been a productive claim.

Gold can be found in the washes, benches and sometimes even in the quartz float that has worked its way down from one of many small lode sources. Some members have even reported success in the flats as a result of wind erosion deposits.

Like they say, gold is where you find it!

Marquitta Claims (MD1, Golden Girl, Golden Girl 2, Golden Girl 3)

Please respect other private claims and landowners as the entire area is either private land or claims. Access is very easy and 2WD is ok. The road is bumpy, but we have seen cars, vans and even small RV’s drive out to the claims. Gold has been found not only in washes but on the hillsides and in the flats. Sampling is key! Area is good for both metal detecting as well as wet/dry prospecting. There is plenty of easy parking. Refer to the map in the MEMBERS GUIDE or the “MEMEBERS ONLY” section for directions to access all 4 claims in this area. (MD1, Golden Girl, Golden Girl 2 & Golden Girl 3)

A Miner Affair

This claim is very accessible for all levels of personal mobility. The claim is very will marked along the entire perimeter. Area is good for both metal detecting as well as wet/dry prospecting. There is plenty of easy parking. Refer to the map in the MEMBERS GUIDE or the “MEMEBERS ONLY” section for directions to access to the claim. Please respect the rights of adjacent claim owners as this entire claim is surrounded by private mining claims.

Cactus 3

This can be accessed by following the road on the North end of Who’d A Thought claim and a little South. Refer to the ”MEMBERS ONLY” section for more detailed directions. There is plenty of parking on this claim. Most of the claim is easily accessible for everyone. There are nice dry washes on both the West and East side of this claim that has produced some good fine gold. There are private claims located on all side of this claim, so please respect these private mining claims.

Who’d A Thought

This claim is located directly South of the Golf 2 claim and alongside of the road leading to the Middle Camp and Golf claims. It contains more steep terrain, so it is not easily traversed. However, there have been a lot of small nuggets/pickers found with metal detectors on this claim. There are private claims located on the West, South and East of this claim, so please respect these private mining claims.
